Our client is an established Australian business operating across the engineering and industrial services sectors, with a national footprint and a diverse range of technical and operational teams.

Based in Melbourne’s south-east, the business has a strong leadership team and a number of specialist divisions operating across the group. They are looking to appoint a HSEQ Advisor who can take ownership of the safety function and help drive a proactive and positive safety culture.

About the role

This is a great opportunity for an experienced HSEQ Advisor looking to take the next step in their career and move into a standalone position, with the autonomy to make the role their own.

Working closely with senior leaders, operational managers and technical teams across the business, you’ll play an important role in strengthening safety engagement, building relationships and driving practical improvements across the group.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys being out in the business, understanding how people work and providing practical advice and support. While maintaining existing ISO management systems forms part of the role, the real focus is on being proactive, visible and helping to embed safety into everyday operations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Building strong relationships with operational teams, engineers and senior leaders to promote a positive safety culture.

• Taking a proactive, hands-on approach to identifying risks and driving safety improvements across the business.

• Providing practical HSEQ advice and guidance to managers and employees across multiple business divisions.

• Maintaining and continually improving existing ISO management systems.

• Supporting incident investigations, risk assessments and the implementation of corrective actions.

• Working with project and operational teams to ensure safety is considered throughout day-to-day activities.

• Supporting safety initiatives, training and engagement activities across the group.

About you

You’ll be an experienced HSEQ Advisor or Senior HSEQ Advisor who enjoys working closely with operational teams and is ready to take greater ownership of the safety function.

Ideally, you’ll bring experience from an engineering, manufacturing, industrial services or similar operational environment, along with a practical and approachable style.

You’ll also have:

• A relevant qualification in Work Health & Safety or a related discipline.

• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and experience maintaining ISO management systems.

• Experience working with technical, engineering or operational teams.

• The confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels and influence positive safety behaviours.

• A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work independently.

• Strong communication skills and a genuine interest in building relationships and improving safety culture.
